This year marks a significant milestone for Pumps & Systems magazine—it is our 25th anniversary. With the help of fantastic authors and experts who have contributed through the years, we have attained our status as the voice of pump users worldwide. Our staff is so excited to be a part of this year with you. We begin in this issue with an article about our early days, on page 36. Then, in each issue throughout 2018 we will share portions of previous articles, best practices and operation tips to show how things have changed, and how they have remained the same. Has Pumps & Systems helped you do your job better? Do you save your issues to refer to later? Do you consistently learn something new in the magazine? Or sometimes disagree with one of our authors? We would love to tell your story. Please contact us at email@example.com with your memories and we’ll be publishing them throughout the year. And we always welcome your ideas and comments. As is our January tradition, this month we focus on the “State of the Industry” in this issue, beginning on page 34. With reports on how the pump market is performing in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America, we bring a comprehensive view of expectations for 2018. Specifically, we take a look at the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, the oil and gas market, the food and beverage industry, infrastructure issues, water/wastewater, power generation, recruiting, education, training and a whole lot more. I am particularly proud of articles by members of our staff: Drew Champlin, Georgia Duke and Savanna Gray. Additionally, our staff talked to almost 30 pump industry experts and asked relevant questions (what keeps you up at night; what did you learn in 2017; what makes you optimistic for 2018; and more). The replies are insightful and telling. Some may surprise you. They begin on page 46. As we begin our next quarter century we thank you, our readers, for what you mean to Pumps & Systems. We would be nothing without you!! Best regards for the new year, Senior Editor, Alecia Archibald firstname.lastname@example.org
